Concursos de mecanografía ofreció otra prueba del teclado QWERTY. Estas competencias son algo subestimado en la historia convencional. De hecho, los concursos de mecanografía y manifestaciones de la velocidad eran bastante comunes durante este período. En ellas participaron muchas máquinas diferentes, con diferentes fabricantes que pretende poseer el récord de velocidad.
