Das Hochdeutsch, das wir heute sprechen, ist eine mildere Variante des Süddeutschen, die sich aber mit Luthers Bibel paradoxerweise zuerst in Norddeutschland durchsetzte. Warum hier? Weil Norddeutschland protestantisch wurde und die Bibel las. Da man dazu praktisch eine neue Sprache lernen mußte (man sprach ja an sich niederdeutsch), wurde das Hochdeutsche weniger von den eigenen Dialekten beeinflußt als in Süddeutschland. Also wurde die niederdeutsche Aussprache des Hochdeutschen zum Vorbild für ganz Deutschland.
